Sean was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario where he grew up riding bikes on the escarpment, riding the HSR, and watched as suburbia overtook forest and field.
He attended McMaster University from 2000-2004 where he completed a BHSc. (Hons.) degree with notable distinctions. His interests in cycling, education, alternative and complementary medicine, and philosophy blossomed during this time.
Sean went on to pursue a degree in law, however, being disillusioned with the state of legal education, left law school in pursuit of changing how we educate. After a year working as an education research assistant at McMaster University, Sean completed his MA in Theory and Policy Studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
During his time in Toronto, Sean attended his first 10 day silent Vipassana meditation retreat. This experience lead to meditation and contemplative inquiry becoming an integral part of his teaching and scholarship. Sean is currently studying Dao-In Yoga and Tai Chi at SpiritWind Internal Arts (Kensington Market) with Sifu Dylan Kirk. He also plays with an Afro-fusion band and a Samba orchestra to vigorously shake his humanly container.
Sean returned from a five month trip in India with his partner Laura in winter 2009.
